VILLA CARLOTTA
This enchanting park covers an area of about 8 acres, all fully accessible to visitors, and offers stunning panoramic views across Lake Como as well as a fascinating variety of botanicals. The Italian garden bears witness to 17th century architecture while the English garden echoes the Romantic period. The spectacular rhododendrons and azaleas were added in the late nineteenth century.
From the villa’s façade, five formal terraces descend towards the lake, connected by an impressive seventeenth century staircase which offers views of the high flowering hedges of camellias, and collections of citrus, papyrus, and roses, including many antique varieties. The Japanese-inspired garden, with its 3,000m2 bamboo grove, stream and waterfalls, in contrast, is a calm and peaceful oasis.
