VILLA MELZI D’ERIL
Located in the town of Bellagio, on Lake Como, the neo-classical villa was built in 1810 as the summer residence of Francesco Melzi. The surrounding parkland is a fine example of a landscaped garden, with its impressive collection of exotic plant species and secular trees, characteristic statuary and architectural elements, and a beautiful lakeside promenade along an avenue of plane trees. It is further enriched by giant rhododendrons and azaleas planted in groups on the lawn that slopes down towards the eastern end of the property and the lovely small pool encircled by fine specimens of Japanese maples, unique in the gardens of Lake Como.
