NATURE TOURS IN EAST WALL OF MONTE ROSA. VISITS: GOLD MINE, PEOPLE WALSER MUSEUM AND TASTING OF TYPICAL PRODUCTS
Leave from the hotel by private coach for the Anzasca Valley (about a 2-hour ride) and Macugnaga, “the pearl of Monte Rosa”. Visit the historical centre of this picturesque alpine village and the museum dedicated to the ancient Walser population and their centuries’ old traditions. Free time to explore whilst admiring the imposing glacier-covered east face of Monte Rosa, have lunch and purchase typical local products.
Possibility of a visit the ancient gold mine of Guja located in the hamlet of Borca, the first mine in the Alps open to visitors as well as the first mine-museum in Italy. Re-live the history of this back-breaking job and discover the traditional techniques and methods of gold mining as you walk along the fully illuminated 1.5 km route.
In the afternoon re-board the coach for the drive to Oira di Crevoladossola; after a short guided walk around the village to see the church, and the restored communal dairy and mill, visit a winery followed by a guided tasting of local wines paired with typical cold cuts and cheeses from the area.
Return to the hotel by coach.
